Ten Artists to Listen in Halloween

Hi, fans of horror have you ever thought about what music to play in Halloween, what famous popular artists play scary songs with gothic lyrics and or horror videos?

Well there are some music genres that are mostly related to horror like the Black or Metal but few of those artists have been able to break into the mainstream, so I made up a list of popular artist with a lot of horror songs.

10. Slipknot
A Nu metal band of the late 90s whose masks are perfect for Halloween but whose music is scary too, songs like “The Devil in I”, “Eyeless” or the terrific “Iowa”.

I said it once and I say it again, perfect masks for Halloween.
9. Anthrax

80s Thrash Metal was full of gore, aggressive, dark band but Anthrax is one of the big four with a lot of works inspired in horror movies, themes like “Skeleton in the closet”, “Bordello of Blood” are a proof of this and never forget the album “Among the living”.

The Reverend Harry Kane from Polstergeist

8. Iron Maiden
“Watching horror films the night before
Debating witches and folklore”
80s Satanic Heavy Metal is synonymous with Iron Maiden, Iron Maiden compose High quality scary music, just listen to “Fear of the dark”, “Dancer of the Death” and “The Number of The Beast”

7.Helloween

While not a pop culture band, a band named Helloween deserves to be on the list. Their songs take you to medieval scary scenarios.  “Invisible Man, “The Dark Ride” and their magnum opus  “Halloween” are the themes I recommend.

6. Rob Zombie
An artist who has dedicated his life to horror, His music is a mix between electronic sounds with macabre lyrics. Give “Dragula”, “I’m your Bogeeyman” and “Demoid Phenomenom” a try.

Rob Zombie with the killer robot of the classic film “The Phantom Creeps”.
5. Marilyn Manson
An icon of frightful dark culture, with a name inspired by Marilyn Monroe and Charles Manson, Marilyn Manson is one of the most successful horror music artists. An extreme gothic appearance accompanied with shocking music video makes Marilyn a must artist to listen on Halloween. I recommend “Beautiful People”, “Sweet Dreams” and “Deep Six”.

4. KISS

Nice beautiful makeups for Halloween. KISS is hard rock band with several horror influenced works. “Psycho Circus”, “God of Thunder” and “Creatures of the night” are good choices for The October 31st.

3. Black Sabbath
The founders of Heavy Metal, Ozzy Osbourne declared in The Seven Ages of Rock that “If people pay for watching scary movies, Why wouldn’t the pay for listen scary music?”. “Black Sabbath”, “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath” and “Paranoid” are song that would make you feel in ominous film.

Their name was inspired by the horror film “Black Sabbath” directed by Mario Bava.
2. Misfits
The pioneers of Horror Punk, virtually all of their works are dark, fearful and ghostly. These are some of the songs I would choose to play “From Hell They Came”, “Astro Zombies” and “Hybrid Moments”.

The only LP produced by Misfits during their early incarnation of the band.

1. Alice Cooper
Welcome to the king of scary popular music. His music has changed genres through the decades, Hard Rock, New Wave or Glam Metal, but Alice Cooper has always kept his horror aesthetics and lyrics.  The last day of October I would suggest you to play “Welcome to my nightmare”, “Feed my Frankenstein” and “The man behind the mask”.
