Hi, horror fans!!!
Do you know what a dutch angle is?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_angle
Today I write about one of the ways to use it, not only in Horror Films but in all kind of movies.
Generally it is used for emphasize themes of madness, illustrating the off-centred, off-balance nature and general social destruction in film.
You can film a whole scene in dutch angles like in this scene from 12 Monkeys.
Or you can simply used the dutch angle in a static shot just before the star of the scene for an upcoming and disturbing event.
Misery before Annie Wilkes got depressed.
The Departed just before the street chase between Billy Costigan and Colin Sullivan.
The Man who knew too much before the confussion at Ambrose Chapel.
